“Dear God. How did you know you were God?”
“Dear God. Are you really invisible or is that just a trick?”
“Dear God. How come you did al the miracles in the old days and you don’t do any now?”
These are just some of the hard hitting questions and tell-it-like-it-is revelations that make up CHILDREN’S LETTERS TO GOD, the new Musical based on the international best-selling book. Inspired by the letters of young people writing to “the Big G,” CHILDREN’S LETTERS TO GOD is family fun featuring a cast of five young actors ranging in age from 10 to 15 years old. Cast size can easily be expanded to accommodate larger groups of performers. The show can also be performed by young adults if age-appropriate children are not available.
Stuart Hample, the creator of the best selling book, has adapted CHILDREN’S LETTERS TO GOD form the page to the stage with music by David Evans (Birds of Paradise) and lyrics by Douglas J. Cohen (No Way to treat a Lady). Original direction by Stafford Arima (Altar Boyz) and Original Musical Staging by Patti Wilcox.
As in the book, the musical is not specifically religious in nature. It's about kids and various events in their lives that lead them to ask a lot of questions -- some funny, some serious, some surprising.
